Whoo's Ready to Party?!?

Whoo's Ready to Party?  And a party it was indeed!  Suri Rose celebrated her first birthday at her birthday party here at our "nest" this past Saturday, October 8th. It was a day of fun and laughter with family and some of our closest friends who have been a true blessing in Suri's life this past year. The owl theme of Suri's birthday party came about months ago when I was trying to find a theme I liked that was "original" and not something everyone else is doing... I loved the phrase "Owl Always Love You" and decided to take it and run with it... changing it up a bit but making the "owls" the theme. I must say, I think it turned out pretty darn cute : )

The night before Suri's birthday party, Aunt Ashley came to spend the night so she and I could do some much needed last minute organizing. (as I found it to be a bit difficult to plan and organize a party with the little nugget constantly tugging at my pant legs begging to be held!)  As soon as nuggs was in bed for the night, Ashley and I went to work!  Puffing tissue paper balls, steaming the table cloths, putting up the tent (with the help of Grandpa!) and organizing the food. The morning of Suri's birthday party, I had to leave bright and early for a work function that lasted until about 10 am. Ashley stayed home with Suri so she could sleep in and be as rested as possible for her big day!  Lindsay and Melissa had worked for weeks, trying to perfect the owl themed treats!  As "owlays" they turned out spectacular and really tied the theme of the party together!  Thanks to the help of family and friends, the party was good to go by 2pm!!

After the party was over and all of our friends had gone home... Suri layed down to take a much deserved nap. When she woke up, Jackson was eager for her to open her gifts!  Such fun indeed!

(you might notice a random Chihuahua in the photos... this little girl decided to come hang out with us for a while as she appeared in my driveway and wouldn't leave. It was beginning to get dark so we welcomed her in for the night. She was a sweet little girl however decided to dig out from under the fence in the backyard when I let her outside at 3am for a potty break... oh well. Hopefully she found her family again!)
