18 month stats

Suri had her 18 month well visit with Dr. Engel this afternoon. Dr. Engel was impressed at how much Suri has grown since we last saw her 3 months ago. Suri's stats are as follows:
Height: 36 inches (100%)
Weight: 31.13 (99%)
Did not check Head Circumference

Suri is definitely following her own curve for an 18 month old however she IS following a CURVE and that is what is important at this point. Basically Suri's growth has steadily increased however it is following an appropriate curve (not going straight up and not straight across) which is reassuring. It is safe to say that Suri is going to be one tall little girl. I feel for her. It seems like I was always the tallest in my class pretty much up until middle school, when I finally came to a plateau in my growth and didn't stand out as much among my peers.

Suri definitely made her grand debut in the waiting room when we were called back to see the doctor. She initiated an exaggerated temper tantrum as she protested being removed from her little red chair that she was sitting on, preparing to watch the video that was playing. As I peeled her body off the waiting room floor she proceeded to kick, slap and scream in protest. I must admit. I think this was the best public disaster we have had thus far! Sigh...

Anyway, once we got back into the room and the nurse began to talk with her, she ceased the crying and proceeded to scan the room intently looking for things to destroy. She of course wanted down from the exam table and wanted no part of being undressed. She definitely bottled up all of her naughtiness to display during our visit : )

Once Dr. Engle came in we began to discuss Suri's course of development. If you remember back a few months, it was predicted that Suri would just now be beginning to walk (based on the level of hypotonia she had early on in her life). She surpassed those odds (thank Heavens! I can't imagine CARRYING around a 31lb kiddo!) and proudly demonstrated her ability to jump in front of Dr. Engle. She was definitely impressed as well as was profoundly blown away by Suri's communication. Suri was basically a little parrot and tried to imitate any word she was asked to say. Yay Suri!

Suri's tubes are still in place and Dr. Engel said we don't have to worry about Suri and swimming. That's a relief! It is safe to swim and hopefully the tubes will remain in place for a while longer. They have definitely done their job in keeping Suri ear infection free.

We ended the visit with a coding of fluoride on Suri's teeth as well as one poke ( Hepatitis A). Suri is now officially poke free until her 4th birthday. Hooray! Over all, Suri is thriving and her at times challenging personality is what is building her character (so I keep telling myself any way...). It hard to believe she is more than 1/2 way to 2 years old. My oh my how time flys!
