She has definitely come along way from her first class 5 weeks ago. Going under water is now no big deal, jumping off the side... pretty much perfected, drinking pool water... down to a science! She is also becoming a bit assertive in class and will let you know exactly what she wants to do and when she wants to do it! Suri has learned that the indoor pool area puts out quite the echo when you scream and today she especially liked screaming at the top of her lungs in little bursts and then pausing to listen to the echo (she wasn't sad, just being defiant!). If she keeps this little naughty behavior up, it will be time for the lesson of "if you do loud and obnoxious behaviors while Mommy is holding you in the pool, you will promptly find your face under the water... end of lesson" (wink wink).
At the end of our class today, Miss Ashley handed Suri her very first Medal in honor of graduating the first level of swimming lessons! Suri was very proud of herself and continued to say "meh-do" for about 1/2 hour post class.
On June 8th we will be starting her first group of lessons in the next level... I'm anxious to see what is in store for us in that class. Of course I didn't have my camera with me (its a bit difficult to take photos while teaching your child to swim - ha) and I had left my phone in the car so was unable to snap a photo of her in the pool with her teacher... bummer. So when we got out to the car, I snapped a quick one ( her mouth was full of fruit snacks as after swimming she is hungry). The black thick strand around her neck is her medal!
Way to go Suri Rose, Mommy had such a time time with you in swimming lessons XoXoXo
