The temperature in our car read 109 as we were pulling out of the driveway this past Friday afternoon (at 11:30pm). No thank you!!!!! The weekend was to be a scorcher and we were headed north to spend the weekend at the cabin! Suri hadn't been up to the cabin since she was about 8 months old and she seemed excited to go (even though she had no idea where we were going, she enjoyed saying "Cabey"... which translates to "cabIN"). She was asleep 5 minutes into the trip and the dogs were no where to be seen from my rear view mirror. They had hunkered down in the back of the truck and were happy to be anywhere but in the backyard in this heat!
What would a trip up the mountain be without having to sit in accident traffic for over 1 hour before proceeding on up the hill?!? Yes, we came to a deal halt about 2 miles outside of Payson due to an accident and the weather in Payson wasn't exactly "cool" either. The temperature was right at 90 degrees and sitting for an hour, at a complete standstill... for 1 hour and 15 minutes, with a 19 month old (who of course woke up from her nap and was well past being ready to get out of her car seat), and 2 large dogs.... what on earth could be more fun???
We couldn't have been happier to arrive at the cabin! It was a bit cooler on the Rim and it was nice to see the cabin again. Suri was excited too. She went exploring as soon as she was set free from her car seat. She and the dogs all seemed happy to be in cooler weather! Everything was green... the grass, the ferns, the trees... everything. It was nice to see and the memories of my Mom flooded my heart almost immediately. It is funny how the rush of emotions seem to hit me when I least expect them to. Mom absolutely loved the cabin and I'm sure she is continuing to admire it from a new perspective. Her presence was strong throughout the weekend...
Later Friday night, Grandpa, Grammy, Aunt Lindsay and Jackson arrived. Suri had already gone to sleep for the night but was overly excited to hear Jacksons voice the next morning when she woke up. She and Jackson had a lot of fun playing outside, hunting for bugs, and riding on the quad. We all had a nice weekend and Lindsay and I of course had fun taking lots and lots of photos of Suri and Jackson.

After Suri and Jackson woke up from their naps, Lindsay and I had spotted an old wooden bridge earlier in the day and we thought it would be fun to take the kids back at sunset for some photos... for having a couple of grungy kiddos (after a hard day at play) the photos turned out quite cute : )

Suri and I headed back home around 11am and once we arrived, Suri's first word out of the car seat was " HOT". She felt it was hot outside and couldn't wait to bring me her swim shoes and swim suit. She wanted to be outside of course, but not without her water gear. She wanted to play in the hose and of course the dog water!
